Senior Construction Engineer: Dominic Wani
Dominic Wani is an accomplished engineer whose career spans over three decades across civil, plastic, and software engineering. His versatile expertise has been applied to transformative infrastructure projects in Africa and the United States, combining technical precision with innovative design across diverse fields.
Dominic launched his career as a site engineer during the upgrading of Kenya’s Isiolo–Marsabit road. He soon took on greater responsibilities in the design and rehabilitation of the Walda–Moyale road, alongside vital community infrastructure including schools, staff housing, and a sixty-bed hospital. In the wake of Hurricane Katrina, he joined efforts to restore New Orleans as a hydrologist for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, focusing on stormwater management and urban drainage solutions.
Building on his expertise, Dominic ventured into materials engineering as a Plastic Engineer in Akron, Ohio, followed by a return to civil engineering in Manchester, NH, and a successful transition into embedded systems as a Software Engineer in Nashua, NH.
From 2014 onward, he provided consultancy services in South Sudan, spearheading the design and realignment of major roadways including Wau–Raga, Juba–Nadapel, and Juba–Rokon–Tali. His cumulative engineering experience—civil, plastic, and software—has uniquely equipped him to solve complex infrastructure challenges with a multidisciplinary approach.
Dominic’s academic foundation reflects this diversity, with a Higher National Diploma in Civil Engineering (Highway Engineering) from The Kenya Polytechnic, an Associate Degree in Engineering from Montgomery College, Maryland, USA and dual bachelor’s degrees in civil and Plastic Engineering from Penn State Behrend and Penn State University, State College, Pennsylvania, USA. He holds a Master of Science in Computer Science – Software Engineering from Towson University in Maryland, USA.
